It all began when Tony handcrafted a handbag for his mother from a piece of Nguni hide taken from their family farm. She carried it proudly to town one Saturday morning, where the pastor’s wife admired its beauty and asked if Tony could make one for her too.

A few weeks later, the pastor’s wife brought her new handbag to church — and soon, everyone was asking where she’d found it. What began as a gift of love from a son to his mother quickly turned into something far greater — a spark that would grow into a symbol of craftsmanship, community, and the timeless spirit of Africa.

Tony, who had grown up farming Nguni cattle alongside his family, saw an opportunity not only to create but to honour the land and animals that had always sustained them. What started as a small passion soon evolved into a calling — transforming the hides of Africa’s most iconic cattle into pieces of art that carried both heritage and heart.

From the quiet beauty of the South African countryside, Eco-Nguni was born — a family-run brand built on respect for nature, authenticity, and love. Today, each piece is still crafted with the same care and intention as that very first bag. Nguni, Zebra and Game Hides

  • Free worldwide shipping on all hides.
  • Each hide is carefully packaged to preserve its natural beauty and shipped securely to your door.

Jewelry

  • Shipping fee: R600 (±$30 USD) for orders under R3,000.
  • Free shipping on all jewelry orders above R3,000 (±$180 USD).
  • Light but precious, each piece is packaged with care to ensure safe arrival anywhere in the world.

Bags & Leather Accessories

  • Shipping fee: R600 (±$30 USD) for orders under R3,000.
  • Free shipping on all bag orders above R4,000 (±$240 USD).
  • From small to large, each bag is packaged with care to ensure safe arrival anywhere in the world.

Mixed Orders

  • If your order contains a hide, your entire cart ships free.
  • If your order reaches the free shipping threshold of R5,000 (±$295 USD) your shipping is also free.
